DRINKING WATER TESTING

When a home's water supply comes from an artesian well and is used for daily consumption, the water must be of high quality and compliant with all standards and requirements of the Regulation respecting the quality of drinking water (Q-2, r.40). In fact, under Paragraph 3 of the said Regulation, a landlord must make water intended for human consumption available to his family and guests.

Although water may look clean and clear, and have no smell nor taste, such looks may be deceiving. Captured water may contain substances with potential negative impact, and may contaminate well water occasionally. Only water analysis conducted by an accredited laboratory may reveal the whole story.

So, the Department recommends that water be analysed:

  • At least twice a year for microbial parameters, during the spring and during the fall;
  • At least once during the usage period of a well, for physico-chemical properties linked to low-variability soil characteristics.

Diligence Inspection offers drinking water sampling and shipment to an accredited laboratory, for drinkability report purposes.
